ACEK 2025 Conference Explores The Future of Engineering in a Digital and Ai-Driven Era

The 4th Annual Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (ACEK) Conference convened in Mombasa, bringing together engineers, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore the evolving role of engineering in the digital and AI-driven era. The three-day event, held under the theme “Engineering the Future: Driving Innovation and Navigating the Industry 4.0–5.0 Transition,” provided a platform for dialogue on how Kenya’s engineering community can adapt to emerging technologies and global trends shaping the profession. Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum, Hon. James Opiyo Wandayi, underscored the need for structured mentorship and stronger partnerships to nurture the next generation of engineers. “Engineers remain central to national development. The Government continues to prioritize professional training through collaborative caucuses that will strengthen technical capacity and innovation,” he stated. Representing the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), Registrar/CEO, Eng. Margaret Ogai, emphasized the Board’s commitment to advancing engineering education and practice in line with global standards. EBK is expanding the scope of accredited engineering programmes beyond traditional fields to include emerging disciplines. Regulatory frameworks are already being developed to support this evolution,” she said. CS, Hon. James Opiyo Wandayi, PS, Eng.
